To choose the right shoe, you must take account of several parameters. First, your foot shape: if your second toe is longest (the case for about 50% of people), prefer a symmetric toe box; if your big toe is longest; opt for an asymmetri toe box. Next, shoe shape: should you choose a plunging form or not? This depends on your level; plunging optimises push-off and helps generate maximum foot power, but requires impressive foor musclature; a flat form is more natural and so less diconcerting, but is less effective for thin-edge push-ups. Finally, the material issue: Australian leather is very strong and stretches little; split leather is reputed to be rugged and durable; while the Chamude microfibre, a Millet exclusive, is light, breathable and stretches slightly.
